Coronavirus (COVID-19) update

(last updated 15:00hrs, Friday, 17th April 2020)

Friday, 17th April 2020

Schoolbooks.ie has been advised by our delivery partner, DPD, that it is experiencing unprecedented volumes at present (the highest they have ever been), and as a result a number of their depots are experiencing backlogs. We have been advised that DPD staff are "doing their very best to get everything out", all the while having to prioritise the delivery of medical goods.

DPD's latest COVID-19 update can be found on their website here.

Our warehouse is in daily contact with DPD's Head Office, and we have been very impressed with their entire network's professionalism and efforts while operating in difficult circumstances.

We kindly thank you, our customers, for your patience and understanding. Our Customer Care remains available Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm.

Stay at home, and stay safe.

Saturday, 4th April 2020

Schoolbooks.ie continues to accept and process orders via its website as normal.

  • Our Schoolbooks.ie website remains operational 24/7.
  • Our warehouse (operated by the dedicated team at Autofulfil) continues to operate.  Due to the enhanced hygiene protocols being observed, and due to increased order volumes, some slight delays may be experienced.
  • Our delivery partners (primarily DPD) are collecting from our warehouse as normal. Some delays in delivery may be experienced in certain areas due to increased volumes across the DPD network.

Stay at home, and stay safe.

Friday, 3rd April 2020

Schoolbooks.ie has been advised by our delivery partners DPD, that some of their depots are experiencing delays in delivering orders locally to customers, due to the increased volume of orders across their entire network, and reduced staff number operating in certain depots.

Orders shall be delivered, but some delays (1-2 days) may be experienced in some areas.

Stay at home, and keep safe.

Tuesday, 31st March 2020

Schoolbooks.ie has been advised by a number of our suppliers (specifically some book publishers) that they have temporarily closed their facilities, and shall be unable to supply us with stock until further notice.

Please note that this may lead to some stock outages on our website in the short term.

Apologies for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Stay at home, and stay safe.

Monday, 30th March 2020

Further to our last update (Saturday, 28 March 2020 - see below), we have since received confirmation that both our warehouse / fulfilment partner, Autofulfil, and our delivery partners, primarily DPD, shall remain open and operational.

Therefore, we continue to accept orders from customers, with the aim of fulfilling them as normal.

Please click here for Autofulfil's latest status update; and please click here for DPD's latest status update.

Again, slight delays may be experienced due to (i) the increased volume of orders being placed on our website at present; (ii) the enhanced hygiene protocols that our warehouse staff need to adhere to; and (3) the increased volume of parcels they our delivery partners are currently having to deal with across their networks.

Thank you for your continued custom and understanding.

Stay safe.

Saturday, 28th March 2020

Following yesterday evening's (Friday, 27th March 2020) government announcement of more severe restrictions on the movement of people, the management team at Schoolbooks.ie is currently seeking clarification from our various supply-chain partners as to what impact this will have on our business.

As a 100% online business (from a customer purchasing perspective), we understand the position to be that we should continue trading as long as we "can operate within the HSE distancing and hygiene protocols".

We are currently liaising with our warehouse / fulfilment partner, Autofulfil, in relation to their on-going ability to operate safely and hygienically; and our delivery partners, primarily DPD, in relation to their ability to continue to collect orders from our warehouse.

Until we are advised otherwise, we shall continue to accept orders from customers, with the aim of fulfilling them as normal.

Slight delays with deliveries may be experienced given the understandable priority DPD is giving to medical supply deliveries.

Thank you again for your support and patience.

Stay at home, and stay safe.

Wednesday, 25th March 2020

  • Please note that our delivery partner, DPD, is currently not delivering to any school premises. Customers placing any such orders should choose a home address as an alternative.

Tuesday, 24th March 2020

  • Our Schoolbooks.ie website remains operational 24/7.
  • Our warehouse (operated by the dedicated team at Autofulfil) continues to operate as normal, with enhanced hygiene standards in place (read Autofulfil's latest update here).
  • Our delivery partners (primarily DPD) are also collecting from our warehouse as normal (read DPD's latest update here). However, please note that while DPD continue to collect parcels from our warehouse as normal, we have received reports from DPD that some of their depots are experiencing some longer than normal delays in delivering to customers, due to the increased volume of parcels they are currently having to deal with across their entire network, and the need for them to prioritise certain delivers (e.g. medical supplies).

Again, we thank you for your patience and understanding at this incredibly unique time.

To our Schoolbooks.ie family and community,

As everyone is only too aware, we are going through some unprecedented times at present. I wanted to reach out to you personally about what we are doing here at Schoolbooks.ie to support you and our staff.

At Schoolbooks.ie our priority is, and always will be, the safety of our team and customers. As with many businesses, last Thursday (12th March 2020) we followed government advice, and took the necessary steps to move our office-based staff to be fully remote working - this includes our Customer Care team, who are in place and operating as normal, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.

Our management team shall continue to monitor the situation, and commits to keeping you updated, should there be any further developments.

As you may appreciate, there has been a significant move to online retailing in recent days. We have seen an increased number of orders for our warehouse to process over the past week. Despite the challenging environment, and increased hygiene practices, our warehouse staff are processing these orders as quickly and safely as possible. Please bear with us should you experience a slight delay in your order reaching you.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Care team via email at customercare [at] schoolbooks.ie.

Thank you and stay safe.

Paul McCann,

Managing Director, Schoolbooks.ie
